Rooted in the community, the Umpqua Native Plant Partnership (UNPP) is a living, breathing collaboration that thrives on the collective energy of our local partners. We’re not just about plants; we’re about people coming together to restore and rejuvenate the Umpqua Basin. As we finalize the UNPP Native Plant Material inventory, we’re excited to offer a diverse selection of native plants, nurtured by local growers and ready to bring life to your restoration projects.
Why Now is the Time to Act
Whether you’re working on an ecological restoration project, managing private lands, or creating a pollinator garden, now is the time to order your native plant materials. The availability of healthy, locally-grown native plants has never been better. Our plug producers have been hard at work, ensuring a robust supply to meet the growing demand for restoration projects across the region. If that isn't enough planting season is upon us :)
By ordering through UNPP, you're not just securing high-quality plants but supporting a pioneering local native plant material economy. This grassroots initiative directly funds the coordination and growth of native plants by local producers. Your involvement makes a significant impact, helping us build a sustainable future for green infrastructure in the Umpqua Basin.
How to Order
It’s simple. Head over to UNPP's Native Plant Material online store, where you can explore a variety of plugs, flats, and gallon-sized plants. Pay half now to reserve your order, with the remaining balance due once we confirm availability. Expect a follow-up email from Morgan at morgan@understoryinitiative.org with all the details, including your final invoice and pick-up instructions.
Our Commitment to Local Producers
Your purchase does more than just fill your cart with plants—it directly supports our local producers. These dedicated growers have worked tirelessly to bring you a selection that includes everything from drought-tolerant species to plants perfect for riparian restoration, oak woodlands, open meadows, and soil stabilization. We’ve even got 1-gallon willows like Brewer’s Willow, Hooker’s Willow, Pacific Willow, and Sitka Willow, which can be reserved by contacting Morgan directly.
A Partnership Rooted in Community
UNPP is more than a plant partnership—it’s a community-driven grassroots movement to connect people to plants, and plants to projects. By participating in our native plant material (NPM) program, you’re playing a vital role in developing a sustainable plant economy. This bottom-up approach ensures that the plants you need are available, grown from local genetics by local businesses, and coordinated by a partnership that cares about the future of the Umpqua Basin.
Looking to the Future
If you’re planning for 2025 projects or beyond, let’s start the conversation now. Reach out to Morgan to discuss how we can support your long-term plant material needs. The sooner we start planning, the better we can ensure that the right plants are available when you need them.
Crossing the Bridge Together
We’ve laid the foundation with our NPM reservation system—now it’s time to walk across the bridge we’ve built together. The success of this initiative depends on your support and commitment. By ordering plants for your 2024 projects, you’re not only securing the best stock for your needs but also ensuring that our local producers can continue to thrive.
Thank you for being a part of this journey. Together, we’re growing a greener, more resilient Umpqua Basin—one plant at a time.
